It really makes no difference if you like John Bonham, Bruce Foxton, Stanley Clark, ,Bernard Edwards, Jaco Pastorius or the extraordinary Bass Player John Alec Entwistle who sadly passed away as Henry understands their playing and can explain to you step by step what it is they are doing and he teaches you how to do it yourself as well as how to make up your own Bass lines.<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7ILSoY1rSpA&hl=en_GB&fs=1&"rel="nofollow"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7ILSoY1rSpA&hl=en_GB&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"rel="nofollow">
Thomas Playing Bass for Paul Weller on My Ever changing mood, one of the many famous musicians who have requested Henry's bass playing

The Bass Guitar Lesson(s) with Thomas are very different from any other teacher you will find, not only that you have to remember his phone is ringing night and day with people requesting his services to play on their album. Thomas will teach you Chords, Picking Techniques with your fingers or with a plectrum, he coves Music Reading and different tones which you can get from an amplifier as well as some Bass Guitar Effects such as the Wah Wah which was often used by the much loved Bass player for James Brown Bootsy Collins. A good stopping point would be Thomas; he is one of the UK’s most highly requested Bass session players ready to play Bass in the style which the artist requires the Bass to be played on their songs.

Such Bass abilities have not come over night but with many hours of practice. When you want to learn different Bass styles of music you should consider learning to read music this can be a huge asset, it takes longer but the rewards are worth its weight in gold. Many Bass Guitar Teachers do not teach reading music for the simple reason they do not know how too. Fortunately when you get taught Bass with Thomas such limitations are not heard of.

A very popular style which started off in the 70s which fascinated many people then as well as inspired many people to want to play the Bass is Funk and its inspiration to want to play this Bass Style is no different here in 2010. One of the reasons is when you play this style the Bass stands strong on its own and can very easily become the centre of attraction when you play as well as it drives notes right through an audience as well as let them appreciate the Bass player as he suddenly gets more noticed.

The Bass Styles often get request for Thomas to teach them funk Funk, however many people which to learn the blues or about jazz and about rock. Most Bass Styles derive from these styles. Another thing we teach is tone control learning this is a major contribution to developing your Bass Styles. With a good Bass and amp you would be very surprised just how many tones you can accomplish by learning how to master tone, this can have a significant impact on the way you project your tone as well as increase your range

The Bass Styles which often get request at a Thomas Bass Guitar Lesson is Funk, however many people which to learn the blues or about jazz and about rock. Most Bass Styles derive from these styles. Another thing taught at the Bass Guitar Lessons is tone control learning this is a major contribution to developing your Bass Styles. With a good Bass and amp you would be very surprised just how many tones you can accomplish by learning how to master tone can have a significant impact on the way you project your tone. One huge mistake with many students is they always belief they should buy the same Bass as their favourite artist, this is something which cost a lot of money and really is totally unnecessary also will have nothing to do with how well you will play. Master your tone control then when you can do this as well as play a few good Bass Guitar Riffs then you should consider if buying a new Bass is relative.

The Bass Styles at Henry Bass Lessons will increase your ability in many ways as well as increase ears to tone pitching which will enable you to hear a song with a nice Bass line and be able to learn it quickly just by ear.

shall I use a plectrum or my fingers?

Plectrum Bass or finger picking Bass is an option which many people into Bass often ask themselves and for for sure, there are many different shades of tone which can be achieved if you learn to master both. Take a player like <a href="http://www.level42.com/"rel="nofollow">level 42s Bass Player Mark King who clearly uses the finger style as well as doing a lot slapping with his thumb and also to get a good funky sound when he is picking the strings with his fingers he picks the strings very close to the bridge of the guitar this contributes to a more treble sound as well as making the notes sound more piercing.

When you Listen to Players who use mainly a Plectrum for example <a href="http://www.madanthonycafe.com/"rel="nofollow">Bass Guitarist Michael Anthony from Van Halen and you compare him with a player like <a href="http://www.stanleyclarke.com/"rel="nofollow">Bassist Stanley Clark you will hear a huge difference in tone not just because the play different styles Jazz and Rock but you can hear the attack on the strings which contribute to their tone. Of course you can get many Bass Players all using a plectrum and each one sounding different. This is the advantage of technique at Thomas this type of thing is not only explained very clearly but also taught to you.

Understanding the Bass Guitar can be real fun as well as challenging but one of the things Bass tone admirers will find very intriguing is various tones which can be accomplished by increasing your technique by learning to use both fingers and Plectrum. A good Bass Guitar Teacher is none other than the notorious Bass session guitarist Thomas will set you out on the correct track right from the start when you book a Bass Guitar Lesson with him.

A good teacher can save you a lot of time and effort as well as help your progress quicker. When you adapt bad habits they hinder your ability to tackle many of the riffs and chords you will want to be able to play and they are often hard to get out of. Here at bass guitar lessons we put this right straight from the start.

fender precision bass

I look back over the years and at all the sounds that I have admired from the Electric Bass Guitar and unquestionably one of my favourite sounds is the one which comes from the Fender Precision I can recall <a href="http://www.philip-lynott.com/"rel="nofollow">Bassist Phil Lynott a student favourite amongst students. The former singer and main song writer for the great rock band Thin Lizzy using one and just loving the sound.

Another favourite Person who got a totally original sound from the Fender Precision Bass has to be the <a href="http://www.stranglers.net/Biography_02.html"rel="nofollow">Stranglers Bass Player Jean Jacques (JJ) Burnel his sound is one of the most distinctive bass sounds ever heard all from the Fender Precision its not uncommon for students coming to ask Henry Thomas to teach them how to get his sound.

Another pioneer is <a href="http://www.brucefoxton.com/"rel="nofollow">Bruce Foxton Bass the Bassist from the sensational 3 piece rock band the Jam got an awesome sound back in the 70s and 80s and regrouping with the new Jam in 2010 he is still using a Fender Precision. Thomas recommends to students to buy the fender squire series Fender Precision its much cheaper than the original and it has roughly the same sound.

Much of the sound you get will depend upon your technique which you will develop slowly but surely as you attend and adapt the teaching methods which will be given to you at every lesson you take. When you eventually buy a Fender Precision and a a decent amplifier to go with it such as the bass amplifier made by line <a href="http://line6.com/lowdownld15/"rel="nofollow">6 the LD15 which will cost you just under £100.00 and deliver an awesome bass line and is most defiantly enough for any person wanting to learn bass and great for someone who already plays bass.

fun with a natural bass technique

You may have been playing for many years and feel unsure what Bass sound really grabs your ear you may even feel you like a variety of sounds on the Bass but have got it into your head that you do not need to own the same Bass as your favourite artist when learning Bass Thomas shows tone control.

When you want to be able to do things in a way where you progress Thomas can assist you in every respect. Unlike your standard Bass player or guitarist Thomas knows his notes inside out he can read music guitar tab as well as produce amazing tones without the use of effects. Such talents have taken Thomas years to master but it has not gone in vein.

You could be a Beginner and you wish to learn Bass in the privacy of your own home or of Henry's wish ever way he can accommodate your requirements. You will find progress once you start lessons with with Henry. You can think of a list of bass sounds you have liked over the years but thought them impossible to play and as a result of that you think the Bass would be too difficult to learn.
